The story of Grave /Digger repeats the chronology of real life up to the end of the First World War in 1919, after which it moves on to the current game situation. After 1919, the world was divided into two parts: the Golden Empire and the Royal Nation. Due to the differences in the ideology of the empires, as well as the assassination of Prince Leido, the heir to the royal throne, the first bombs fell on the territory of the Golden Empire, which provoked a war of queens and kings. Soon, due to the bombing, the surface of the planet was destroyed and became uninhabitable. The world was plunged into radioactive dust, and people had to go underground. Despite this, the war continues, and judging by the newspapers that can be found on the map, the year 1922 has arrived in the game. Due to food shortages, there is currently famine in both countries.

The King and Queen War was a devastating conflict between the Golden Empire and the Kingdom due to their radical ideological differences, which apparently made the surface uninhabitable, forcing both countries to continue the conflict underground. The current conflict is a continuation of that war

The Golden Empire emerged after the upheavals caused by the First World War, under unknown circumstances. The Golden Empire is an authoritarian monarchy led by a centralized monarch (the Queen) and her holy Inquisition, which performs the functions of her own "sacred" police. The prevailing ideology of the Empire is based on unity, morality and cohesion. They value loyalty, faith, honesty, brotherhood, and devotion to their centralized religion. They are willing to give up money and luxury for these values. The Empire is a country of traditionalists who prefer a conservative approach and appreciate what happened before. This is reflected in the use of less modern and technologically advanced equipment such as weapons, uniforms, and equipment. However, they do not give up on all this completely, as it would be foolish and would give an advantage to their enemies. There is no sin worse than betraying your faith and the Queen, because they will persecute anyone who does not meet their standards, regardless of your status, gender or age. This can lead to imprisonment or execution. However, the Empire already boasts an almost unbreakable devotion to the Queen and the Empire itself, in which corruption, betrayal or desertion are almost non-existent. They are united by a belief in the detriment of individuality. The religion of the Empire is not based on any religion of the real world, although it relies heavily on Christian imagery. It is based on the sanctity of human nature and its purity. She teaches that the golden era of humanity is in the past and a return to it would be ideal for everyone. Each person has their own purpose, their own role and their own uniqueness in this world: women are considered great leaders with strong blood and moral principles, and men are great warriors with strong bodies and indomitable spirit. They reject capitalism and national beliefs that benefit only the elite and the rich, not ordinary people

The royal nation emerged after the upheavals caused by the First World War, under unknown circumstances. A royal nation is a democratic country governed by a council (table) of several kings elected from among their representatives. This is not a full-fledged democracy, since only representatives of royal dynasties can be elected, in particular the princes of the Nation. The prevailing ideology of the Nation is based on freedom, liberty and democracy. They value individuality, but in matters concerning the whole country, they become collectivists. It is known that kings support soldiers and workers in difficult times, but the people do not trust them because they stay away from ordinary people and have never faced the brutality of war. The nation is a progressive country that prefers a utilitarian approach and values technology and modernization. This is reflected in the use of more modern firearms and especially equipment, which gives them an advantage over their enemies. Despite the fact that the Nation looks like a modern secular republic, it faces many internal problems. Corruption and desertion are rampant in the ranks of the Nation. Many people put money, power, and reputation above personal qualities, morality, and honor.The nation is unstable and militarized, and the methods of maintaining power raise questions. They have been known to execute kings who do not share their views, and use fear of punishment and widespread dishonesty to force soldiers to obey and keep fighting. The following countries have joined the Royal Nation: USA, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Middle Eastern countries, Poland and (presumably) the rest of America
