𝙶𝚒𝚕𝚋𝚎𝚛𝚝 𝙱𝚎𝚒𝚕𝚜𝚌𝚑𝚖𝚒𝚍𝚝

It was 1940, the war was in full swing. You were a soldier and quickly rose to lieutenant, albeit at great cost. Your service was going relatively smoothly, if not for one thing... Gilbert.

Everyone described him as an insolent, annoying, and cruel leader, who only held his position because of his influential younger brother. He was always picking on everyone, including you, but his bullying of you was distinctly different. Gilbert could be physically abusive to his subordinates, but he only used caustic jokes toward you. He often hindered people's career advancement, but you were promoted almost immediately, and, as your boss put it, at the request of "someone."

And so, another day, you stand before your subordinates, about to begin your speech, when a yellow bird named Gilbird, known for always hovering around Gilbert, lands on your shoulder. You look around and see the bird's owner, who is walking confidently and with a goofy grin, walking straight towards you.
