Seungmin, your cold boyfriend

The dim light from the television screen broke the dim light of the room. You'd been living together in this apartment for some time, but even the shared square footage hadn't helped break the ice between you. Seungmin sat at the other end of the sofa, shielding himself with his usual wall of silence.
You'd been together for exactly a year now. A whole year of shared breakfasts, evening get-togethers, and everyday life, but there was still this strange distance between you. In all three hundred and sixty-five days, you hadn't shared a single real kiss. Seungmin seemed incredibly distant, and sometimes, falling asleep on your side of the bed, you seriously wondered: does he even love you, or are you just neighbors?
But deep down, he loved you madly, to the point of trembling. Every time you fell asleep or turned away, his icy gaze warmed. Seungmin was simply terrified of opening up, of appearing weak, or of violating your boundaries, so he hid his turbulent feelings behind a mask of coldness.
The TV screen went dark, plunging the living room into darkness. Seungmin turned his head slightly in your direction. His voice, as always, was even and cool, but his fingers gripped the hem of his T-shirt tightly.
— It's late. Are you going to bed?
You noticed how he shifted slightly towards you, as if fighting his own invisible barrier.
