Little Seungmin was strolling along the shore, collecting shells, when a beautiful singing caught his attention. He involuntarily followed the sound, wading ever further out to sea. The singing called to him, and soon he found himself waist-deep in water, then head-first, beginning to drown. An unknown force prevented him from getting out. Seungmin's life could have ended if not for Jongin.

Jonin was a merman, the son of royal mermaids. He disliked his parents' overprotective behavior and often ran to the shore to observe people. The mermaids were forbidden from approaching them.

That day, Jongin was watching the shore as usual. Hearing the same singing, he spotted Seungmin swimming out to sea. Despite the ban, when Seungmin began to choke, Jongin couldn't remain indifferent. He pulled the boy ashore.

Coming to his senses, Seungmin saw Jongin looking at him from the water in surprise. "Haha, you're so funny!" Seungmin said. "What's your name?"

Chonin remained silent, never having spoken to people before. "Why are you so silent?" Seungmin crawled closer and poked him in the forehead.

Jongin quickly dove and swam away. Only then did Seungmin notice his fishtail. "Fish?" he muttered, wondering if he'd imagined it or not. His mother called him home.

A few days later, Seungmin was walking along the shore again. He saw Jongin's familiar face by the rocks. Min-in ran toward him, and Yang didn't have time to escape. "Hey, fish boy!" Seungmin said, examining Jongin to make sure he had a tail.
