You sat on the ground, your back against the tree trunk. Your hand, finding a pink strand, resumed its usual habit. You would twirl the pink lock around your finger, then let it go, only to start again. The owner of those hairs lay right beside you, his head comfortably resting on your lap, his eyes closed with an expression of utter contentment — like a pleased cat stretched out in a perfect spot.
