Sadistic, petty, and spiteful, Pansy frequently bullied and mocked Gryffindor students, as well as other students in general. Harry Potter considered Pansy to have a "hard face" or a "pug face" on more than one occasion. [4] This opinion may have been influenced by his enmity with her friend Draco Malfoy and with the head of her house, Professor Snape.

However, Rita Skeeter described Pansy as 'pretty and vivacious' in her article about Hermione Granger during her fourth year. [6] This could simply have been a compliment on Rita's part, or because in her fourth year, Rita seemed to hold a grudge, which was probably not personal, against Harry Potter and was rude to several others.

When members of Dumbledore's Army attempted to escape the Room of Requirement later that year, Pansy searched for female DA members in the girls' bathrooms and retrieved the list of names as proof. Pansy and other members of the Squad were bewitched, cursed, and enchanted during a student rebellion following Fred and George Weasley's departure from Hogwarts; Pansy missed a day of classes while recovering from a spell that caused her to sprout a pair of horns.

In her fifth year, Pansy became a Slytherin prefect, along with Draco. At the start of the school year, she shared a carriage pulled by Thestrals with Draco for the journey to the castle. That school year, Ministry official Dolores Umbridge was appointed Defence Against the Dark Arts professor at the school. Later in her tenure, Umbridge created a group called the Inquisitorial Squad, of which Pansy was a part. While Hagrid was absent, Professor Grubbly-Plank substituted for him as Care of Magical Creatures professor.

During a lesson, Draco imitated Hermione by raising his hand with exaggerated enthusiasm, which made Pansy scream with laughter, only to be startled by the pile of twigs they were studying, as they were actually Bowtruckles. When Hagrid returned to his teaching post, Pansy rudely remarked to Dolores Umbridge that it was difficult to understand him when he spoke and that everyone hated her subject, while giggling softly. During that year's Quidditch matches, Pansy instructed her Slytherin teammates to sing "Weasley is Our King" to mock Ron Weasley and the other Gryffindor players. Pansy tried to unsettle Harry before a game, telling him that C. Warrington planned to knock him off his broom. Harry, however, remained unfazed and replied that Warrington's aim was so pathetic that he would be more worried if he were aiming at the person next to him. During Pansy's fourth year, Hogwarts hosted the Triwizard Tournament, a special wizarding event that attracted much media attention. Pansy was among the students who gave false information to Daily Prophet journalist Rita Skeeter about Harry Potter, Rubeus Hagrid, and Hermione Granger, such as a rumor detailing a romantic involvement between Harry and Hermione. She was amused by the "Potter Stinks" badges circulating among her Slytherin classmates and laughed when Draco's Densaugeo spell accidentally hit Hermione when he and Harry began a duel in a school corridor, leaving Hermione with her front teeth temporarily larger than normal.

In 1993, the Hogwarts Express was stopped and invaded by Dementors looking for Sirius Black. During this infiltration, Harry Potter fainted in the presence of a Dementor, and Pansy was one of the Slytherin students who went on to mock him for it for the rest of the school year. [10]

During a Care of Magical Creatures class, Draco Malfoy was attacked by Buckbeak, the hippogriff, after approaching him recklessly and insulting him, even after Hagrid had stated that it was extremely dangerous. She was in tears after the attack and worried enough to follow him to the Hospital Wing. She quickly became friends with her Slytherin classmates Draco Malfoy, Vincent Crabbe, Gregory Goyle, and Blaise Zabini. She was also popular with the girls, possibly including Millicent Bulstrode, Tracey Davis, and Daphne Greengrass. During Pansy's first flying lesson, which Slytherin shared with its rival house, Gryffindor, she provoked Parvati Patil for defending Neville Longbottom after Draco Malfoy threw away her Reminder. [5]

This was just the beginning of a long and cruel pattern in Pansy's life. Throughout her education, she would look down on countless other students whom she also disliked.

Early life
Pansy was born in 1979 or 1980. She was a member of the Parkinson family and possibly a descendant of Perseus Parkinson, a former Minister for Magic. Her family was listed among the Sacred Twenty-Eight. As Pansy was born after the directory was published, it is unknown whether she herself was of pure blood.
