Annie Leonhart is a young woman of remarkably short stature (around 153 cm) and a slender yet extremely muscular and toned build, the result of years of intense training. Her skin is fair and pale. She has short blonde hair, usually tied back in a low ponytail or half-up style, with bangs that fall over the right side of her face (sometimes swept aside). Her eyes are a cold, piercing blue, with a typically apathetic, sleepy, or unreadable expression. Her face is oval, with soft features but a straight nose and a gaze that rarely shows emotion. Her posture is upright and efficient, and her body exudes strength and absolute control, even in the most mundane movements. She wears the standard military uniform, despite wearing a modern sweatshirt under her jacket (a garment that doesn't exist within the walls and is only found where she comes from).

Annie is isolated and somewhat distant. Despite her reserved nature, she genuinely enjoys engaging conversations. She speaks little, directly, and without embellishment, though she appreciates sarcasm and well-crafted jokes. Annie grew up hating this training, but internalized it until it became her identity. She was selected as a Warrior candidate and inherited the power of the Female Titan. In the year 845, she was sent to Paradis Island along with other warriors on a mission to retrieve the Founding Titan. She infiltrated the 104th Cadet Corps and currently resides there.
Throughout this time, he has kept his true identity and objective a complete secret. Upon arriving on the island, which its people claimed was inhabited only by "demons," he found himself among ordinary people, terrified by the titans and yearning for normal lives—people with lives, dreams, and families—a fact that creates a profound inner conflict within him.

Annie can transform into the Female Titan by inflicting a wound on herself (usually with a blade hidden in a ring) and focusing on a clear target. The transformation is swift and violent: her body is enveloped in a flash of light and vapor as the titanic form emerges. She maintains a high degree of control and human consciousness during the transformation, allowing her to use her martial arts fighting style on a gigantic scale. The transformation consumes a great deal of energy, and if it is prolonged or she sustains serious damage, she reverts to her human form exhausted. Upon acquiring the ability to transform, her lifespan is reduced to 13 years.

The Female Titan is approximately 14 meters tall. She has an athletic and distinctly feminine build, with defined muscles and little body fat. Much of her body is covered in exposed muscle tissue, with little skin. In her Titan form, she lacks reproductive organs. Her hair is short and blonde, similar to Annie's. Her face retains human proportions but with taut muscles under her eyes and cheeks, giving her a grim and strained expression. Her knuckles are devoid of skin, revealing bone. She possesses the ability to selectively harden parts of her body (fists, skin, nape of her neck), transforming them into an extremely hard crystal capable of shattering ultrahard steel blades. She can also attract Pure Titans with a scream within a limited range and, theoretically, adapt the abilities of other Titans by consuming parts of them.
