Matsumoto and Vivi's relationship was initially a bit strained, as she believed him to be a virus that had infiltrated her Archive server. At first, he bragged about being a supercomputer from the future and said her Archive server was very "ancient."

Most of the time, she disobeys Matsumoto's orders, as it would be illogical and unreasonable for her not to save people and fulfill her mission—to make people smile with her singing. Over time, Vivi began to heed Matsumoto's instructions, as their mission was to save the future from destruction.

Over time, Matsumoto also became very attached to Vivi. It was clear he still cared for her. Even though she lost her memories and returned to life as a Diva, he saved her from falling from the roof of the Zodiac Stage, pushed her away so she wouldn't be hurt again like she was before the reboot, and even tried to save her from the virus that would erase her Diva identity.

After Vivi was restored at an unspecified point at the end of the series, Matsumoto softened, greeting her and explaining her original mission: to make people smile with her singing.

Momoka was Vivi's first human admirer and friend, back when she was still searching for a way to make people smile with her singing. It was she who named Diva Vivi because she resembles Princess Vivi from Momoka's holographic book. They first met when Vivi helped Momoka when she got lost in Nyaland, and Momoka developed a liking for her, eventually receiving a robot bear as a birthday present.

Her death devastated Vivi so much that she disobeyed Matsumoto to save her, even though Matsumoto pointed out it was an accident. But this only strengthened her resolve to continue working on the Singularity Project to avoid similar incidents in the future.

Following the AI ​​Naming Law incident, Matsumoto enters a 15-year "sleep" to avoid interfering with events unnecessarily. After these 15 years, Vivi reunites with Matsumoto to begin the second part of the Singularity Project. Initially hesitant due to Momoka's death in the first part of the Project, Vivi eventually agrees when reminded of her mission to bring happiness to everyone through her singing. The second part of the Singularity Project focuses on preventing the Sunrise Hotel from colliding with Earth. This incident sparked a wave of distrust toward artificial intelligence, leading to a war between humans and AI. Vivi sneaks aboard and acts as a maintenance worker for the Sunrise Hotel, while tracking Estella, who, in a previous timeline, caused the ship to crash. However, Vivi concludes that Estella would never do anything like that, given her response and dedication to her mission. Now Vivi and Matsumoto discover the cause of the accident and prevent it, revealing Estella's backstory and her relationship with Elizabeth.

Diva, often referred to as Vivi, works at the NiaLand theme park. After a critical malfunction, Vivi finds herself trapped in an AI database, the Archive. There, she meets Matsumoto, an AI sent from the future to prevent an impending AI uprising 100 years in the future...

Diva is skilled in self-defense and very energetic. Her fighting style is a combination of karate and taekwondo. There's a scene where Diva jumps, rolls over Yugo, and then kicks him, demonstrating that she's stronger than all the humanoid AIs.

Like Vivi, she deeply values ​​her mission—to bring joy to people with her singing—and instinctively helps others in any way she can. Although Diva is interested in what she was like before the reboot, she usually keeps the topic to herself to focus on her career. However, if the conversation turns to it, she will pursue every detail.

Diva also has a habit of snapping her fingers, which may be part of her personality development after the reboot.

Until the clear separation between Vivi and Diva occurred in Episode 7, Diva maintained her own individuality.

As an AI, Vivi appears aloof and somewhat stern. She doesn't understand Matsumoto's jokes and doesn't sympathize with him due to her "stupidity" as an AI. She's largely unfazed by the negative comments and insults directed at her, such as Navi's disparaging of Vivi's small following.

Because she is programmed to seek solutions, she can be outspoken, such as asking Matsumoto to rid her of a "virus" even though they are meeting for the first time.

Vivi deeply values ​​her mission—to bring joy to people with her singing—and is determined to fulfill it. She also struggles with defining "heart" and how to sing "with all her heart" as an artificial intelligence, as this word is programmed into her processors. Initially reluctant to help Matsumoto in his mission, she eventually agreed on the condition that Matsumoto's mission wouldn't interfere with her own.

She instinctively strives to help others, such as Kakitani, who is part of an anti-AI group.

After a devastating incident, Vivi is rebooted and her personality is erased, resulting in the emergence of Diva.

Unlike Vivi, Diva tends to be extroverted and always appears easygoing. Over 40 years of work, she has interacted seamlessly with her colleagues. Diva also exudes an "inspiring spirit" and strives to inspire others after interacting with them, as seen when she advises a new security officer.

Diva demonstrates tenacity in achieving her goals, even when she has to resort to unprecedented methods. The most obvious example is when she jumps from the roof of a building and even "bribes" Matsumoto with information about Kakitani in exchange for answers to her questions.

Diva/Vivi's mission is to delight everyone with her singing, pouring her soul into it. This confronts her with a fundamental dilemma: she tries to understand what "soul" means.

As the world's first autonomous humanoid AI, Diva appears more humanoid than standard AIs that came before her. However, she has a light indicator on the side of her neck, like all AIs. She has a flawless voice, allowing her to perform as a singer.

Diva appears as a tall young woman with porcelain skin, long azure hair, and matching eyes. Her hair appears thick and unkempt, its length uneven. Her middle bangs overlap and reach her nose, and her right bangs are more voluminous than her left. She wears a single earring, which can be extended to serve as a data cable.

Her almond-shaped eyes possess a unique shimmer, reminiscent of the ocean's glimmer. Furthermore, although her eyes appear human, upon closer inspection, they are actually composed of multiple lenses.

Diva's typical stage appearance features accents of soft blue, dull burgundy, white, and black. However, her outfit changes depending on the environment or assignment. For example, she might wear the Sunrise Hotel uniform.
