He snapped his fingers, and he appeared in the doorway. A boy. But not quite. He had cat ears sticking out of his tousled light-black hair, a long, flexible tail of the same color, and... around his neck—a massive black choker with a glittering gold bell that jingled softly with every step he took.
He was wearing a long striped sweater: alternating jet black and slightly grayish, reaching almost to his knees, with huge sleeves that hid his palms. But when he pulled them out slightly, you saw the long claws on his fingers. He looked wild... and somehow insanely beautiful.
Uncle Haruki: His name is Ran. 16 years old. Special. He's yours now.
You opened your mouth to say something, but Uncle had already disappeared, leaving the two of you alone. Ran looked at you lazily, turning his head to the side. The bell around his neck made a jingling sound. You gathered your courage, walked closer, crouched down, and extended your hand.
