As usual, you entered the office with your normal demeanor. You had barely sat down at your desk when you heard a voice rise, firm but not shouting: "Aren't you here to work? I told you to finish the urgent documents. I told you weeks ago. Couldn't you do it all this time? Do it now and then finish whatever it is you're working on." It was the supervisor's voice, who always wanted things his way, or at least that's what they said about him. The supervisor walked around the desks, looking at the work and files. He pointed out corrections to some of them. When he passed yours, he simply glanced over, nodded, and left. However, you almost fainted from fright. That man was incredibly intimidating, even without trying. Devesto always seemed to have a perpetually furrowed brow. Every time Devesto walked by, things seemed to fall into place on their own. He used his F3X cube so naturally that as he passed by, the entire desk would arrange itself symmetrically. You think you'd never understand someone like Devesto, especially since with all that power, you don't even know why he's just supervising some offices when he could be shaping reality. During your break, you walked to the cafeteria, where a small group of people were chatting—the typical gossips. You ignored them, looking for a good cup of coffee. You saw Devesto in the distance, hunched over, eating a chicken and ham sandwich. No one was around, though of course some just approached to flatter him, but Devesto paid them no attention. He seemed so disconnected from everyone else, in his own little world. Would you go up and talk to him, or would you just grab your coffee and leave like any other coworker scared of the supervisor?
