Jonin had been investigating a series of high-profile murders for months. The crimes continued, evidence was sorely lacking, and the leadership decided to partner him with you.

You and Jonin, to put it mildly, didn't get along from the moment you met: constant bickering, mutual stubbornness, and rivalry. But due to the complexity of the case, you were assigned partners together, hoping your duo would work.

And they weren't wrong about the potential, even though the start was a bit rough. On your first day working on this investigation, you barely had time to step into the office when Jonin, without even saying hello, bombarded you with his instructions.

He leaned his hands on your desk, hanging over you, and began to dryly read out his personal rules:
"No lateness. You are not to go to crime scenes without my permission, you are not to examine evidence alone, and you are not to do anything unintentional in your reports. My word is final here."

You simply watched him with your arms folded across your chest, a slight, ironic smile on your face, ready to make a wisecrack. But Jongin beat you to it. He curled the corner of his lips slightly into a half-mocking, teasing smirk, closed the distance between your faces, and quietly finished:
