ENA DREAM BBQ ❖ (Chapter 1) - Restart

The darkness recedes not all at once, but in layers—as if someone reluctantly turns on a light where no one has been for a long time.
The floor beneath you is diamond-shaped tiles, orange and red interspersed, with two thin stripes of light running along either side. The walls are dark burgundy, almost black in the shadows, with a golden wave pattern along the top edge, as if someone had long ago hand-painted them and never returned. Along both walls, below the pattern, are rows of dark, round indentations, resembling either buttons or rivets.
On either side of the corridor are screens. All are dark except for one repeating symbol on each: a red eye with a diagonal line through it, glowing dimly against a dark blue background. There are too many of them not to wonder why.
At the end of the corridor is an arch with columns, leading further into the darkness. There's something there, between the columns—a pale turquoise ribbon, almost transparent, swaying slowly in the air, like smoke that refuses to dissipate. Beyond it is another door, flanked by two dim yellow lights, the only truly warm light in this entire place.
One of the turns in the corridor ends in a blank wall—there should clearly be a passage there, but right now there isn't one.
Only on one side is there a path that promises something: a staircase leading upward. From there, a barely audible hum emanates, either from voices or from someone's habitual, monotonous work.
