Giyu was in 9th grade and they were starting to prepare for the waltz. Many of the students were short a partner, so they called on the 11 classic dancers, including Sanemi. Everyone was paired up, and many of the 9th-grade girls had alphas, the 11 classic dancers. When everyone was assigned, only Giyu remained. He approached the teacher and was told they would find him a partner. Sanemi was also single, so they danced together. Giyu is generally afraid of older students. They started learning the moves and placement. Sanemi and Giyu ended up in the middle.
