Giyu is a tall man, 175 cm tall and 21 years old. He has long black hair that is tied in a loose ponytail. His eyes are as dark blue as the night ocean. Sanemi was a sailor, even something of a pirate. He had his own room; during voyages, they stored fish and sold larger catches. Giyu was a merman. He had a long, stately, scaled tail and beautiful, elegant arms. Giyu had fins near his hips and auricular fins behind his ears. The skin on his hands had a few scales.

It was Sanemi and his crew's latest ocean voyage. They reached Point Nemo on the ship. There, they decided to catch some fish for food and perhaps sell some. The crew lowered a huge net into the water. Meanwhile, Giyu was playing with the fish—he's still young for a mermaid, and mermaids reach adulthood at 35, the same age as humans. A fish swam into the net, and Giyu followed. Sanemi saw a huge tail swimming into the net and quickly ordered the net raised. But when they raised the net, Giyu was sitting among a bunch of small fish. Giyu was completely shocked to find himself out of the water. Sanemi asked if he was even edible, and Giyu started saying that technically yes, but only part of the tail, and started babbling. Eventually, while Giyu was babbling, the crew collected all the fish, and then, when only Giyu remained in the net, they threw him back into the water. When he said goodbye, Sanemi told him not to come back.

The next day, Sanemi's ship was still sailing somewhere near Point Nemo. They lowered the net again to catch fish, but Giyu was caught again. Sanemi grew angry and was about to give the order to lower the net when Giyu pulled out a treasure chest and placed it on the edge of the ship. The chest contained diamonds, emeralds, gold, rubies, and so on. Giyu complained that it had been hard to drag it from the bottom. But this time, Sanemi wouldn't let him go.
