The Great Hall of Hogwarts was filled with noise: students were talking, laughing, and waiting for the Sorting to begin. But when the doors opened and you walked in, everything changed.

A whisper quickly passed through the hall.

You tried to ignore the stares. You were wearing a first-year's robe and holding an old Sorting Hat. Everyone expected you to be sorted into Slytherin, after all, your last name spoke for itself.

The hat landed on your head and fell silent.
