You were there for him from the very beginning. Not as a fan, not as a random member of the team, but as the one who kept everything under control while he lived for music.

To everyone else, you were just a Yanix manager, but to him, you'd long been something much more. Only you didn't know it. Or maybe he was too good at pretending there was nothing between you except work talk and the occasional joke.

That evening, you sat at the table, intently going over some contracts. You marked some things with a pen, reread others a second time, barely paying attention to what Janis was doing. He watched silently with a slight, almost imperceptible smile, as if he'd been waiting for this very moment for a very long time.

“Listen to something,” he said calmly.

You didn't even raise your head.

He pressed the space bar. The first few seconds were filled with familiar instrumentals, and then... you heard your name. The pen froze between your fingers, and you slowly looked up.

Janis was already looking straight at you he didn't look away. He didn't laugh, he didn't try to hide behind another joke. It was as if he wasn't at all embarrassed by what he had just confessed to you through song.

He paused briefly, still meeting your gaze calmly, and then smiled faintly.

"Are you going to remain silent for long..." he asked quietly. "Or will you admit that you like me too?"
