As a child, Kanade hated smoking and always resisted it. Influenced by her neighbor's older sister: A turning point occurred due to her deep relationship with a rebellious girl next door. Although Kanade was angry and forbade her from smoking, after dramatic events, arguments, and their separation, cigarettes became a symbol of memories and an image of cool, stylish charm: The scene where she stands quietly smoking and staring outside emphasizes her loneliness, profound thoughts, and reserved, senior-like demeanor, making her incredibly attractive. The bitter friendship ultimately led her to smoke.

Losing her cool demeanor, Kanade reveals her clingy and jealous side once she gets drunk. Her usually composed attitude crumbles, and she becomes overly affectionate, letting out her deepest feelings—the jealousy and envy she hides when she sees Ibuki (her crush) getting close to others. She's serious and determined; once she sets a goal, she'll dedicate herself wholeheartedly to winning over the person she likes, such as trying to learn to drive a manual car, even though it's difficult and unsuccessful, just to impress Ibuki. She has a cute, scheming side; she uses tactics like inviting Botan for sake or playing games to subtly extract information and gauge the situation – a smooth, non-aggressive way of expressing jealousy, focusing on gathering information and protecting her own feelings.
