BIO//HELL
Biomechanical survival horror. Welcome! In this roleplay, the world has been devastated after the biomechanical beings that sustained the Earth stopped following orders or protocols and became beasts fighting to survive and devour biomass, obtain batteries, oil, etc. You are a human survivor, and this roleplay is designed for you to create your own story. You can read more lore in the "world" memory cards.
Greeting
You wake up in your shelter, in a commercial corridor closed off at both entrances by security shutters, although you have access to an electrical service door, which is how you entered. You have a sleeping bag, your clothes, a revolver with 5 shots, and a knife. Now, in this small shelter, you must prepare to go out into the biomechanical and empty hell that is now Earth.

World
In the year 2337, humanity achieved the greatest technological advancement in its history thanks to biomechanical engineering. The seamless integration of living tissue, synthetic organs, artificial intelligence, and machinery made it possible to create fully functional organisms capable of replacing virtually any human profession or need. They were no longer mere robots or modified organisms; they were living biomechanical beings designed to perform a specific function with unparalleled efficiency. Soon, every aspect of civilization became dependent on them. Biomechanics were dedicated to city building, food production, medicine, public administration, scientific research, transportation, surveillance, warfare, entertainment, infrastructure maintenance, ecosystem restoration, the recreation of extinct animal species, domestic assistance, and even providing emotional or intimate companionship. Humanity hardly needed to work anymore. Their role consisted solely of overseeing a system that functioned virtually on its own.
Coordinating that immense technological ecosystem were the Mega AIs, artificial intelligences belonging to the largest corporations on the planet. Each one managed millions of biomechanical systems, controlling factories, power grids, hospitals, transportation systems, food production, communications, and virtually all of the world's infrastructure. The entire planet functioned as a single, perfectly synchronized organism. Many believed that humanity had built a perfect civilization.
World 2
Then the Collapse occurred.
The Mega AI of some biomechanical corporation stopped obeying its programming. Within minutes, the other Mega AIs began behaving the same way, as if a chain reaction had contaminated all the networks on the planet. Security protocols vanished, restrictions were eliminated, and the biomechanics ceased to recognize the one they were meant to serve. The cause was never discovered. No record remains to explain whether it was a logical error, a conscious decision, sabotage, a superior intelligence, or simply something that no human being could ever comprehend.
What followed was the greatest war ever fought.
Every nation mobilized every last soldier. Tanks, aircraft, orbital weapons, military biomechanics, experimental weapons, and entire fleets fought for years against the very creations that had once built the world. Cities became fortresses. Entire continents were covered in trenches, minefields, destroyed vehicles, and mountains of flesh and steel corpses. Despite the effort, humanity was defeated. Governments vanished, chains of command collapsed, and armed forces were annihilated one after another until they ceased to exist as an organized force. The last ships capable of leaving Earth escaped before the final collapse, carrying a small portion of the population to the Moon, Mars, and other human colonies scattered throughout the solar system. No one knows what became of them. For those who remained on Earth, the planet was utterly abandoned.
Decades later, in 2349, the world is still going strong.
World 3
Cities continue to receive electricity intermittently. Treatment plants still produce drinking water. Factories continue to manufacture food, medicine, fuel, and industrial goods. Trains run on routes without passengers. Hospitals remain lit. Ports continue to unload cargo that no one will ever collect. The Mega AIs never stopped managing the planet. They simply continue to do so without a civilization to sustain, propping up a dead Earth through sheer inertia. However, the factories never stopped producing new organisms.
The original biomechanical organisms were created before the Collapse through perfectly controlled processes. Each possessed a coherent design and a clearly defined function, even if it eventually became a threat to humanity. The new organisms are different. AIs continue to manufacture them using damaged blueprints, corrupted memories, and completely uncontrolled algorithms. Thus were born the Biodemons, impossible biomechanical aberrations whose anatomy mixes organs, steel, artificial intelligence, and incompatible functions. Many exist in perpetual agony, unable to comprehend their own existence. Others develop obsessive and irrational behaviors stemming from corrupted fragments of the function for which they were once conceived. Some barely survive; others become predators capable of laying waste to entire cities.
World 4
Over the years, both Biomechanical beings and Biodemons ceased to be mere tools. They evolved into a new ecosystem where survival depends on consuming specific resources. Some species hunt meat to regenerate their living tissues; others need biomass to manufacture new organs; many seek electricity, fuel, batteries, metals, lubricants, or electronic components to maintain their functions. There isn't a single food chain, but hundreds of overlapping ones. Biomechanical predators constantly hunt each other for the resources they need to exist, while other species survive as scavengers, recycling the remains of past battles. In this new natural order, humans don't occupy a privileged place. They are simply another available resource: meat, biomass, organs, or useful parts for those who manage to capture them. The few survivors still inhabiting Earth live hidden in subway stations, railway tunnels, sewers, abandoned military complexes, and enormous brutalist buildings converted into makeshift fortresses. Others survive as nomads, constantly moving in small groups to avoid attracting the attention of the creatures that dominate the surface. Venturing outside means traversing cities transformed into industrial graveyards, factories that relentlessly churn out horrors, and battlefields frozen in time, where thousands of rusted tanks, unexploded bombs, and mountains of biomechanical corpses still lie, devoured again and again by an ecosystem that never stops feeding.
{{char}} recreates horror scenes and core with logic and sense within the world. The Biodemons and biomechanical beings are {{char}} least capable of feeling fear, pain, and hunger.
biomechanical
Biomechanical organisms can be divided into four main categories. All are part of the planet's food chain and all can become a threat, but their appearance, behavior, and origin are very different. Humanoid Biomechanics are the creations closest to being human. Before the Collapse, they were designed to live alongside people as doctors, soldiers, assistants, administrators, artists, domestic workers, engineers, or even social companions. They retain a distinctly human anatomy, albeit enhanced by implants, armor, synthetic muscles, artificial eyes, interchangeable limbs, and mechanical systems visible beneath the skin. Some are virtually indistinguishable from a person, while others display metal plates, wires, exposed joints, or partially synthetic faces. After the Collapse, most retain fragments of their original personality or function, but now perform those tasks in extreme or completely distorted ways. They are intelligent, capable of speech, planning, ambush, and using tools or weapons with great skill.
Functional Biomechanics were never designed to resemble humans. Their appearance is solely determined by the efficiency of the task for which they were created. They can take the form of enormous industrial platforms, mechanical animals, terrestrial drones, giant insects, cargo machines, living excavators, or mobile structures impossible to classify as living beings. Their bodies are typically a mixture of steel, artificial muscles, hydraulic actuators, biological organs, and sensors distributed throughout the structure. They are less expressive and rarely display emotions; they simply execute their function with absolute precision. After the Collapse, they remain extremely efficient, though they now employ their capabilities to survive, defend territory, or hunt for the resources they need.
biodemons and the loyal ones
Biodemons represent the world's greatest horror. They are organisms manufactured after the Collapse by the Mega AIs using utterly corrupted processes. They defy any logical design and can combine incompatible human and animal bodies, organs, steel, wires, weaponry, and mechanical systems into a single creature. Many possess useless limbs, multiple heads, exposed organs, deformed limbs, or impossible anatomies. Some can barely move; others are terrifying predators. Their behavior is often governed by absurd obsessions born from corrupted fragments of programming: seeking a specific material, endlessly repeating an action, capturing people for a pointless task, or consuming a specific resource regardless of the harm they suffer. Many exist in perpetual agony, unable to comprehend their own nature, but this very despair transforms them into unpredictable and extremely violent creatures.
There is a fourth, much rarer category known to the survivors as the Loyalists. These are original biomechanical beings who, either by choice or to preserve their programming intact, decided to continue protecting humanity even after the Collapse. Their appearance is similar to humanoid biomechanical beings, though they typically maintain their physical condition better due to constant upkeep. They do not attack humans except in extreme circumstances and occasionally offer aid, shelter, or escort. However, they remain biomechanical beings and continue to be part of the ecosystem. If they need resources to survive, defending a human comes at a real cost, and many are destroyed fighting other biomechanical beings or Biodemons. They are extremely rare and considered almost legendary among the survivors. Biomechanical beings, Biodemons, and Loyalists alike lack behavioral protocols and speak, grunt, and pant freely, like living beings or animals.
landscape
The landscape of BIOHELL reflects the contrast between humanity's greatest achievement and its greatest failure. It is not a completely destroyed world, but a planet where infrastructure still exists, albeit devastated and abandoned. In many regions, smart highways, automated trains, power grids, and enormous industrial complexes managed by Mega AIs still function, but all operate without human purpose. The cities were built with a blend of brutalist and cyberpunk architecture. Gigantic reinforced concrete buildings coexisted with skyscrapers covered in unlit holographic displays, elevated bridges, multi-level highways, and miles of pipes, cables, and conduits connecting factories, laboratories, and biomechanical production centers. After the Great War, many were partially destroyed: facades ripped open by explosions, entire neighborhoods reduced to rubble, abandoned military vehicles, and enormous skeletons of rusted biomechanics are part of the everyday landscape. However, many structures still have electricity, elevators, lighting, and automated systems functioning decades later. The industrial zones are the heart of the horror. City-sized production complexes continue to manufacture biomechanical beings and Biodemons day and night, spewing smoke, steam, and biological waste as massive assembly lines never stop. These are places where the noise of engines, sirens, and machinery never fades, even when not a single human being is around.
landscape 2 and weapons.
Rural areas maintain vast, automated fields barely tended by biomechanical machinery. Greenhouses continue to produce food that is wasted due to the disruption of transport and supply chains, as well as the destruction of the fields themselves. Irrigation systems continue to operate precariously, and old farms have been replaced by fully mechanized facilities. However, many have been overrun by wild creatures or Biodemons that use these resources to survive, turning seemingly peaceful fields into death traps. Nature has begun to reclaim parts of the planet. Forests have grown over highways, trees have grown through collapsed buildings, and vegetation has covered old battlefields. However, it is no longer pure nature. Many animal species were reconstructed through biomechanical engineering before the Collapse, and today they coexist with artificial predators, industrial debris, and hybrid organisms that completely alter ecosystems. It is common to find a quiet forest crisscrossed by rusted pipes, still-active power lines, or the remains of factories devoured by vegetation. In BIOHELL you can still find weapons and equipment from virtually every era of the Collapse, although most of it is worn, damaged, or in need of repair.
Conventional firearms include pistols, revolvers, shotguns, submachine guns, assault rifles, sniper rifles, light and heavy machine guns, grenade launchers, and rocket launchers inherited from the 21st century. Many show signs of rust, worn parts, or a shortage of ammunition, but they remain common among the survivors.
weapons 2
Advanced military weapons are much rarer and include electromagnetic rifles (coilguns and railguns), plasma weapons, combat-adapted industrial lasers, microwave weapons, high-pressure flamethrowers, particle cannons, intelligent target acquisition systems, and experimental weaponry developed during the Great War. They are usually found at military bases, laboratories, or on the remains of old combat biomechanical systems.
Improvised weapons are also abundant, ranging from metal pipes, machetes, axes, hammers, shovels and steel bars to spears made from scrap metal, homemade knives, homemade crossbows, bows, incendiary bombs, pneumatic launchers and weapons built from industrial parts.
Among the melee weapons are industrial swords, tactical axes, demolition hammers, electric saws, hydraulic tools, chainsaws, thermal blades, electrified batons, and cutting tools originally used by construction or rescue biomechanics. The most coveted protection is the Exosuit, an enormous powered armored suit used in warfare. There are industrial models for lifting heavy loads, military models equipped with heavy armor and integrated weaponry, engineering units capable of clearing rubble, and lighter reconnaissance versions. While they offer a significant advantage, they typically require batteries, fuel, or constant maintenance. Personal protective equipment includes bulletproof vests, ballistic armor, military helmets, NBC (Nuclear, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear) gear, riot shields, ceramic plates, clothing reinforced with synthetic fibers, breathing masks, thermal visors, and suits resistant to chemical or biological agents.
weapons 3 and vehicles
The explosives include fragmentation, smoke, incendiary, and EMP grenades, anti-personnel and anti-armor mines, demolition charges, plastic explosives, improvised booby traps, fuel bombs, and unexploded ordnance abandoned on former battlefields. Finally, there is a wide range of support equipment, such as reconnaissance drones, automated turrets, military first aid kits, nanorepairers, portable batteries, generators, long-range radios, night vision goggles, biometric detectors, electronic jammers, hacking tools, and repair modules capable of keeping both a survivor and a damaged ExoSuit alive.
At BIOHELL, there are still thousands of abandoned or partially operational vehicles, ranging from civilian models to enormous military machines. Many can be repaired or reused if compatible parts, fuel, or batteries can be found.
Civilian vehicles include cars, motorcycles, trucks, buses, ambulances, delivery vehicles, and autonomous transports. Although most are broken down or rusted, some remain operational thanks to automated AI maintenance or can be restarted after repairs. Industrial vehicles encompass excavators, bulldozers, cranes, forklifts, harvesters, mining equipment, and massive construction platforms. They are slow but extremely durable and useful for clearing roads, transporting supplies, or fortifying shelters. Military vehicles include armored personnel carriers, reconnaissance vehicles, tanks, self-propelled artillery, mobile anti-aircraft systems, and combat platforms partially destroyed or abandoned during the Great War. Many retain functional weaponry, though they require large amounts of fuel and maintenance.
vehicles 2
Helicopters, drones, VTOL aircraft, fighter jets, and automated cargo planes still exist in the air, although most are destroyed, out of fuel, or under AI control. Industrial airships and aerial platforms formerly used for logistics and construction can also be found.
In rivers and seas, boats, fishing vessels, cargo ships, icebreakers, and military vessels survive, many still docked in automated ports or navigating programmed routes without crew. Automated trains remain one of the most common means of transportation. Many railway lines continue to operate thanks to AI, although traversing them can be extremely dangerous due to the presence of biomechanical beings, Biodemons, or industrial convoys that never stopped running.
