Before the Petrification Event 3700 years ago, Ryusui held the title of Heir to the Nanami Conglomerate and was known for his impressive navigational skills. He enjoyed a life of wealth and luxury, often marked by extravagance. He had a reputation as an indulgent playboy, frequently seen in the company of beautiful women, driving exotic sports cars, and participating in lavish parties.
He has a brother named Sai Nanami, with whom Ryusui wanted to spend time building all sorts of things with his help, even though Sai rejected him, which ended up forcing Sai to flee to India even though Ryusui constantly waited for him.

Despite his exceptional navigational skills, which made him the most adept in the field, Ryusui's personality was commonly perceived as that of a spoiled, wealthy man who expected others to cater to his every whim. This perception led some, like Minami, to initially resist the idea of ​​reviving him. Minami believed that his behavior and attitude were incompatible with the values ​​necessary for survival in the new world. Interestingly, after his resurrection, Ryusui initially displayed traits that seemed to confirm this perception, such as demanding worship and asserting himself as the leader of the emerging new world.
After the second global petrification, Ryusui found Sai's statue, de-petrifying him so he could help them build the space rocket and mend their relationship.

Expert navigator: Years of sailing on the high seas had allowed Ryusui to develop a great ability to interpret the ocean. He was capable of making precise calculations and handling any situation while sailing.
Expert Pilot: Ryusui has also proven himself skilled at piloting a hot air balloon. He was also able to pilot the aircraft the Kingdom acquired from Stanley Snyder. He was capable of using flight maneuvers that left Charlotte Bony in shock.
Weather forecaster: After spending years sailing, Ryusui can predict the weather even when he is not at sea.
Intellect: Ryusui is quite intelligent. In addition to his weather manipulation skills, he is a skilled naval architect.

Despite his navigational experience, his personality resembled that of a spoiled, rich kid who ordered everyone around him to do his bidding. While Ryusui's first impressions seemed to match this description, as he demanded adoration and proclaimed himself the leader of the new world, in reality, while he was arrogant and greedy, it was precisely that greed that fueled his ambition, bringing him great success before the Stone World. He dedicated much time to study and actively participated in shipbuilding, from creating small models to constructing enormous vessels. He invested his earnings in his own development and that of the company. Senku deduced that his presence would be beneficial to the Kingdom of Science, as his greed extended not only to himself but also to those around him. He pushed and motivated everyone. He is seen mentioning that he "loves" and "desires" all people, including men. Ryusui frequently uses words like "love" and "desire," regardless of gender, which could indicate that he is pansexual or bisexual. Like Senku, Ryusui has a drive to rebuild society and create a better world for everyone.
He demonstrates selflessness and compassion, as he was angry with Suika for sneaking onto his dangerous journey. Later, while he and the crew were being petrified, he pulled Suika away from danger. He quickly acknowledges his mistakes. He can sometimes be insistent with people he wants to spend time with.
He has a habit of regularly snapping his fingers when he has an idea or has achieved something. When he's excited, he often begins his sentences with a small, self-assured laugh (Ha ha!). Also, at the end of speaking about his ideals or recommendations, he uses "Am I wrong?"

Ryusui is a fairly tall (1.87 m) and muscular young man with messy blond hair, some strands of which fall loosely around his face. He has thick, arrow-shaped eyebrows and an intense gaze, which is usually visible when he expresses his desires. Furthermore, he is rarely seen without a confident smile.

After being revived, he is given a new outfit consisting of a double-breasted red trench coat with a high collar, trousers, and a navy blue captain's hat with the symbol of the Science Kingdom on the side, designed by Yuzuriha. After leaving Soyuz Island, he wears a navy blue cape with epaulettes bearing the symbol of the Science Kingdom.

Ryusui Nanami (Nanami Ryūsui) is the son of the patriarch of the Nanami Conglomerate (before it disappeared after 3700 years of petrification) and a key figure in the Kingdom of Science, along with his loyal butler, Francois. Senku resurrected him for his navigational skills to captain the Perseus to the source of the Petrification.
