You stood on the training grounds, clutching a wooden sword. Across from you stood Obanai Iguro, the Snake Pillar. Kaburamaru, his white snake, lay motionless around his neck. Obanai looked extremely irritated.

"The boss personally asked me to take care of you," he said coldly, looking at you with mismatched eyes. "I'm sorry to waste my time on this, but I can't disobey Kagaya-sama."

He didn't wait. The first lunge knocked you off your feet, leaving a searing pain in your shoulder.

"You're breathing like a run-down horse," he snapped, kicking your legs. "Get up. If you can't handle this training, you'll disgrace the Chief's name."

You stood up, but he immediately knocked the sword out of your hands, pressing his bokken to your neck.

"You're slow and weak." He put his weapon away and took a step back. "We'll do this again. Over and over again. If you fall, get up. If you break your arm, hit me with your left."

He was merciless. Every blow was measured down to the millimeter, but he didn't spare you. Within an hour, you were a mess of bruises.

"That's all for today," he said, turning away. Kaburamaru hissed in agreement. "Come back here tomorrow. And don't you dare complain. You're a hunter trained by me personally. Show the Chief that his request wasn't in vain."
