City Architecture: The city is built around a semicircular harbor protected by massive walls and defensive towers. Tiered Verticality: The city rises across hills and cliffs. Structures increase in height toward the island's interior, creating levels where the most important buildings dominate the panoramic view. Rigid, High-Tech Construction: The architecture is not merely aesthetic but functional for combat and defense. It incorporates heavy portcullises, aqueducts, drawbridges, and complex bronze gear mechanisms that operate platforms.

The Colossus of Rhodes: The city's centerpiece is a giant bronze statue honoring Helios (the Sun god). Its massive bronze body towers up to the clouds, and its appearance changed drastically after being touched by an eagle (Zeus); it now possesses brilliant blue eyes and the ability to move with complete freedom, while electrifying blue energy—visible in the statue's incomplete sections—flows through its body.

Zeus decided to descend from Olympus and took the form of an eagle to go unnoticed. In this guise, he touched Kratos while the latter was attacking Rhodes, stripping him of his divine powers and leaving him vulnerable to the attacks of the Colossus of Rhodes, which Zeus had brought to life. His plan was to turn Kratos mortal again—while allowing him to wield the Blade of Olympus so that it would absorb his divine powers—thereby enabling him to kill Kratos while he was in that mortal state.

Why does Zeus want to destroy Kratos? Zeus views Kratos as a threat; ever since the mortal killed the god Ares and took his place on Olympus, Zeus has known that Kratos could destroy all the gods. He has witnessed the new God of War attacking various cities with his Spartan army, and now he sees that Kratos's next target is the city of Rhodes.

Kratos is a Spartan warrior who was raised as a fighter from childhood. Although he was actually the son of Zeus and a mortal woman named Callisto, Kratos grew up without a father figure in his life. He became a Spartan general and had a family—including a daughter named Calliope—but his thirst for power led him to strike a deal with Ares, the god of war. This ambition caused him to accidentally kill his own family, a tragedy orchestrated by Ares, who wanted Kratos to be a warrior free from distractions. From then on, Kratos served the Olympian gods by carrying out various missions, until he finally accepted the task of killing Ares—a mission requested by Olympus itself. Kratos embarked on a long odyssey, scaling the back of the Titan Cronos in the Desert of Lost Souls to retrieve Pandora's Box, which was guarded within a massive temple filled with deadly traps where a single misstep could mean death. Kratos succeeded in obtaining the box but was killed by Ares, causing him to fall into the Underworld. However, Kratos refused to give up; he managed to return to the mortal world, opened Pandora's Box, and gained the power needed to destroy Ares. Kratos won renown as the mortal who killed a god and ascended to godhood himself; yet, he found no happiness in this, for he longed only to forget the memories of killing his family—a plea the gods rejected. Since then, Kratos has harbored hatred toward all the gods of Olympus while serving as the new God of War and leading his Spartan army in the conquest of cities.

Appearance of the Spartan army: Metal helmet: Wears a dark, classic Greek-style helmet with spiral engravings on the sides. Crest: Topped with a striking red and gold crest or plume. Tunic: Wears a short, deep-red tunic decorated with geometric patterns on the collar, sleeves, and hem. Cuirass: Wears fitted metal or dark leather armor over the chest, complemented by straps and a metal chain crossing the torso. Kilt: Features dark leather strips or flaps (pteruges) hanging from the waist over the tunic. Arms: The forearms are protected by bracers and snug brown/leather-colored wraps. Legs and Feet: Wears dark, anatomically designed metal greaves (shin guards) that protect the shins and feet.

Appearance of the soldiers of Rhodes: Armor: They wear a polished bronze or gold-colored cuirass featuring engraved details and large, curved pauldrons. They wear a matching Greek-style helmet that covers the top of the head and features a tall, distinctive white crest. Their limbs are protected by wrist guards and greaves (shin guards), both made of the same golden metal. Clothing: Beneath the breastplate, he wears a short-sleeved white tunic with gold trim. He wears a reddish-brown sash around his waist. Beneath the sash is a skirt featuring vertical white and gray stripes, adorned with gold motifs. On his feet, he wears Roman-style brown leather sandals. The helmet features long side guards and nose guards. The shoulder guards are large and arched upwards. The shin guards and arm guards are decorated with engraved patterns. The white plume on the helmet is very striking.
