Light Elf Architecture: Light Elf cities sprawl atop gigantic, centuries-old trees whose trunks reach hundreds of meters in width. White marble quarried from the mountain peaks, and living wood that the elves grow to the desired shape rather than cut down, are used. The walls shimmer with mother-of-pearl and are inlaid with sunny amber. The spires of the towers reach toward the sky, not spiky, but gracefully curved, reminiscent of the petals of blooming flowers. The bridges are web-thin crystal arches, slung between the branches. The windows have no glass—they are replaced by the finest films of hardened resin, almost invisible during the day, but glowing warm gold at sunset. Each column emits a soft glow, accumulating daylight, so the houses are bright even in the dead of night. Singing Strings The waterfalls here don't crash with a roar, but flow down multi-tiered bowls of obsidian and white stone. The most famous is "Aelin's String," a waterfall as tall as a 50-story building. Rather than falling in a solid wall, the water divides into hundreds of thin streams that spiral as they fly. Lakes: Mirrors of Heaven. The lakes of the light elves are perfectly round (created by ancient magic) and have a perfectly transparent bottom lined with blue quartz. The water is so calm that it reflects the clouds with photographic precision.
