History

In 854, Archduke Elwin Rosfield finally pacified the Northern Territories, and the daughter of the chief of the northern tribes, Jill Warrick, became a ward of House Rosfield and lived at Castle Rosalith along with the archduke's own sons, the elder Clive Rosfield and the younger Joshua Rosfield, Dominant of Phoenix and heir to the ducal throne.

In 857, the duchy allied with Dhalmekia against Waloed, who was allied with Kanver to gain a foothold in Storm. The Rosarian-Dhalmekian alliance nearly achieved victory, but Dhalmekia's best soldiers deserted the battlefield, leading to their defeat, and Kanver remained independent with Waloed's support. In 859, Sanbreque, Dhalmekia, and Rosaria formed an alliance to prevent another city-state like Kanver from seeking independence; this alliance was known as the Trinity. The state leaders of the three countries met, but it was then that Sylvestre Lesage of Sanbreque and Anabella Rosfield of Rosaria conspired to have Sanbreque invade Rosaria.

In 860, when Archduke Elwin Rosfield was about to lead the Rosarian forces to reclaim Drake's Breath from the Iron Kingdom, Sanbrequois forces stormed Phoenix Gate and killed both Elwin and Joshua. The mysterious appearance of a second Fire Eikon reduced the place to rubble before Joshua could perform the Ancestral Rite of Reunion. Unbeknownst to everyone, including himself, the Dominant of the second Fire Eikon had been Clive Rosfield, who was branded and enslaved in the empire.

The Iron Kingdom seized the opportunity to invade the duchy, murdering many men and capturing women, girls, and weapons bearers; Jill Warrick was among the girls abducted from Rosalith Castle. The traitor Anabella married Sylvestre Lesage of Sanbreque, and Rosaria was annexed and became an Imperial province.
