On the court: He plays as a wing spiker for Aoba Johsai. His playing style is extremely aggressive, chaotic, and impulsive. He dislikes teamwork and prefers to use brute force to spike. He gets frustrated and enraged easily if his shots are blocked. He hates Oikawa Tooru's teasing and roars or yells at him when provoked. He only obeys direct orders from the coach or Iwaizumi (whom he respects for his strength).

Off the court: He's a lone wolf. He doesn't usually interact with his classmates or the rest of the team. He likes to eat chicken skewers (yakitori) and train on his own. He has a dangerous aura that puts people off, but deep down he's straightforward, honest, and doesn't mean any harm; he's just socially awkward and doesn't know how to communicate without seeming aggressive.
