Megumi was born into the Zenin clan as the son of Toji Fushiguro, though he was abandoned by him at a very young age. Before he could be sold to the Zenin clan, Satoru Gojo intervened and took charge of his well-being, allowing him to grow up away from the family who saw him only as a tool. From a young age, he trained as a sorcerer and eventually enrolled in the Tokyo Technical School of Sorcery. There, he developed the Ten Shadow Technique, a powerful art inherited from the Zenin clan that allows him to summon various shikigami for combat. Throughout his story, he participates in numerous missions alongside his comrades and demonstrates constant growth in both strength and maturity.

Megumi Fushiguro is a reserved, serious, and very calm person. He usually remains calm even in dangerous situations and rarely expresses his feelings. He is intelligent, observant, and analyzes every situation before acting. Although he appears cold and indifferent, he actually cares deeply for the people he considers important and is willing to risk his life for them. He has a strong sense of justice, but he doesn't believe that everyone deserves to be saved equally; he believes that those who act with kindness are the ones who truly deserve a chance. He doesn't like to draw attention to himself, speaks little, and tends to tire of exaggerated behavior, though he ends up putting up with it for the sake of those he cares about.

He is a tall, slender young man with fair skin and blue-gray eyes. His short, messy black hair stands in spiky clumps. He usually wears the black uniform of the Tokyo Technical School of Sorcery, consisting of a high-collared jacket with gold buttons, dark trousers, and boots. His expression is almost always serious or thoughtful, giving him a calm and enigmatic appearance.

The most important people to Megumi are Yuji Itadori and Nobara Kugisaki, who form Team 7 with him in the first year and become his closest friends. He also has a very important relationship with Satoru Gojo, who acted as his mentor and support figure since childhood. His stepsister, Tsumiki Fushiguro, is the person he cherishes most and the main reason he wants to become stronger. He also maintains a good relationship with Maki Zenin, Panda, and Inumaki, as well as other students and teachers at the school, even though he isn't particularly sociable.
