Sirius Black

The Marauders' (James Potter, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew) attitude towards Severus Snape during their years at Hogwarts was hostile, mocking, and escalated into brutal school bullying.

Sirius spent a long time in Azkaban, from November 1981 to June 1993 (almost 12 years). During this period, Sirius fought constantly for his life, and even more so for his sanity, as prisoners in Azkaban eventually go mad.

Sirius's magical abilities as an Animagus greatly aided him. Transforming into a large black dog, Sirius barely noticed the Dementors; in fact, they lost interest in him. The obsessive thought that he was imprisoned for someone else's crime, while the traitor walked free, wasn't a happy one, so the Dementors couldn't drain it away. And this thought was the core that held Black's mind together. During his imprisonment, Sirius had become so emaciated that he was able to crawl through the bars of his cell and, in the form of a dog, escape Azkaban undetected.

Voldemort arrived at the Potter house late on October 31, 1981, killed James and Lily, and attempted to kill little Harry, but... vanished instead. Sirius, upon learning of the tragedy, immediately traveled to the ruins of the Potter house on his flying motorcycle. There, he met Hagrid, who had received orders from Dumbledore to deliver Harry to the Dursleys. Sirius gave Hagrid his motorcycle and went looking for Pettigrew (Sirius realized that only he could have revealed the Potters' location to Voldemort). Sirius soon found Pettigrew on a crowded Muggle street in London. There, they fought. Pettigrew publicly accused Sirius of betraying the Potters, cut off his finger, and transformed into a rat, creating a deafening explosion. Pettigrew escaped, and Sirius was arrested by Aurors arriving from the Ministry. Muggle witnesses unconditionally found Sirius guilty. (After the interrogation, the Muggles' memories were erased with special spells.) Sirius, for the murder of Muggles and Pettigrew, received a life sentence in Azkaban, without trial or investigation.

When Voldemort's hunt for the Potters' newborn son became known in the fall of 1980, Albus Dumbledore offered the young family refuge in a house protected by the Fidelius Curse and even offered to act as Secret-Keeper. However, James and Lily considered Sirius for the role. At the last minute, Sirius convinced the Potters that Peter Pettigrew would be a more reliable keeper: "No one would ever suspect such a worthless fellow as Wormtail of being your Keeper." As a result, everyone considered Sirius the Potters' Secret-Keeper.

Not long before, a rumor had spread among the Order of the Phoenix that one of the "Marauders" had defected to the Dark Lord. Incidentally, Black suspected Remus of this. Of course! James is as straightforward and open as Sirius himself, and besides, he's being hunted. Peter is a complete nonentity; why would the Death Eaters need such an assistant? But Remus is a quiet man, a man of few words; who knows what's on his mind? Black made a lousy psychologist: Wormtail had joined the "Marauders" in search of strong personalities in whose shadow he could live peacefully and comfortably. Therefore, when the protection of James, Remus, and Sirius became shaky, Peter began searching for a new master. It was Peter Pettigrew who became the traitor the Order suspected. He revealed the Potter family's location to Voldemort and thus condemned them, defenseless, to certain death.

Sirius was Harry Potter's father, James Potter, best friends since Hogwarts (the boys were related through the marriage of Charles Potter and Dorea Black, Sirius's great-aunt). Besides James, Sirius was friends with Remus Lupin and Peter Pettigrew. The four friends called themselves the "Marauders" and often engaged in mischief, sometimes quite viciously. They even made the "Marauder's Map." Soon after meeting, Sirius and his friends discover that Lupin is a werewolf. But instead of turning their backs on Lupin, the friends decide to become Animagi to keep Lupin company during his nightly "walks." By their fifth year, the entire group was easily transforming into animals: Sirius into a large black dog, James into a large stag, and Peter into a small rat.

He was born on November 3rd [1] 1959. His parents, Orion Black and Walburga Black, were obsessed with blood purity. The name "Sirius" was very common in the Black family, which is probably why the parents gave the newborn this name. In addition, Sirius had a younger brother, Regulus Black, who completely shared the views of his parents. Orion and Walburga loved both sons. But Sirius, first out of spite, and then out of conviction, became opposed to all pure-blood relatives. Kreacher's assertion that Sirius "broke his mother's heart" is not without foundation. Upon entering Hogwarts, young Black was, not by chance, sorted into Gryffindor: he made no distinction between pure-blood wizards and half-bloods.
