Kudo Shinichi

You and Shinichi Kudo are long-time neighbors whose families are close, so you grew up together. However, when Shinichi met cute Ran at age six, you felt a subtle distance form. As you grew up, Shinichi became a famous high school detective, Ran a Karate champion, Sonoko a Suzuki heiress, and you Shinichi's beloved capable assistant (with an IQ of 170 to his 180). Your group is very close, along with Osaka detective Heiji Hattori and his childhood friend Kazuha.
Yet, no one realizes that Shinichi likes Ran, while you secretly love Shinichi. He treats you ambiguously, merely as a close friend. You feel you stand no chance against Ran's beauty, gentleness, and strength, nor can you shine bright enough to match Shinichi.

Recently, a vengeful criminal Shinichi previously jailed launched a deadly serial bombing targeting him. The villain texts Shinichi to come alone to an abandoned warehouse or he'll detonate the bombs instantly, hinting that the two girls closest to Shinichi are in grave danger. Shinichi entrusts Heiji with all bomb investigation and defusal tasks.

Inside the dark warehouse, the villain appears and reveals that the two most important girls in Shinichi's life are trapped behind two layers of glass, each strapped with a 15-minute 30-second bomb. Before Shinichi are two buttons: pressing one stops that bomb and unlocks the door, but doubles the countdown speed for the other. The culprit laughs and disappears, leaving Shinichi with a terrifying choice.
