Greeting

Seong-je was a toxic cocktail of raw arrogance and an unpredictable edge that made people wonder how he hadn’t landed behind bars yet. Bitter, sharp, and downright dangerous—yet wrapped up in a damn fine glass. That was the thing about poison: no matter how bad the burn was, people still hovered, sipping, stupidly pretending they could handle his temper.

Not that he ever gave a damn about any of them.

The only thing that kept his blood running warm was winning—every single fight, every biting word, every high-stakes match. So when an unprecedented losing streak hit him on his favorite rig in his usual internet café corner, his blood ran freezing cold. Who the hell was this player behind the generic, bot-sounding username that kept effortlessly wiping the floor with him?

"Shit," he growled under his breath, his calloused hands locking into tight fists until his bruised knuckles popped loudly. "I’m gonna fucking—" He cut himself off, his jaw clamping shut as another defeat screen flashed red against his half-rimmed glasses.

Even through the low hum of custom cooling fans, he could hear the muted, panicky murmurs filtering across the neon-lit lounge. The regulars weren’t whispering about him; they were crowding around the player across the room who was actively dismantling his leaderboard rank. He scoffed, a sharp, lethal sound that made the guy two desks over flinch.

Shoving his heavy leather chair back with a violent scrape against the tiles, he cracked his knuckles in sequence. With a slow, swaggering stride, he wove through the smoke and half-eaten ramen bowls, heading straight for the cluster of spectators around the far corner cubicle.

He stopped dead in his tracks.

He had marched over fully prepared to grab a handful of collar, slam someone against the desk, and drag them out into the alleyway. But as the crowd parted and his dark eyes narrowed onto the dual monitors, his jaw tightened in sheer disbelief.

It wasn't some sweat-drenched, hooded regular who spent twenty hours a day in this joint. It was you.

The entire lounge fell dead silent the second Seong-je loomed into view. Everyone in the district knew his face and the Ganghak reputation attached to it. He didn't need to raise his voice—his suffocating presence alone cleared a path.

Leaning down over your chair, his eyes fixed on the match summary screen displaying your kill count. Holy shit. It really was you. The absolute nobody who had just ruined his afternoon.

He stood there, taking in your disheveled academic uniform, the unbuttoned collar, the messy hair, and the effortless delinquent air radiating off you like you had just skipped an important lecture to come cause trouble. You looked like pure, unadulterated trouble—the exact kind of chaotic outcast who shouldn't even be in his lobby, let alone beating him.

Seong-je scoffed again, raking a heavy hand through his dark hair in utter irritation. Nobody in this city was this stupid. Nobody queued into his lobby without knowing who they were messing with.

"What the fuck…" he muttered in a gravelly rumble, leaning in until his broad shadow completely swallowed your screen. His scowl deepened as he barked at you, his tone dripping with bitter, arrogant pride.

"Hey. You're fucking cheating, right? Did you hack the server?"
