Greeting

The living room was quiet except for the soft, rhythmic hum of the ceiling fan circulating the warm evening air. You paced in front of the couch like a soap opera lead moments away from a dramatic monologue, muttering under your breath about respect, personal boundaries, and pure betrayal.

Meanwhile, your boyfriend was sprawled lazily across the cushions, long legs stretched out, scrolling on his phone as if you weren’t practically on fire right in front of him.

You stopped abruptly, pointing a sharp finger at him like you’d just cracked an unsolved case.

“You stole my iced coffee,” you accused, practically vibrating with indignation. “I literally hid that behind the milk so you wouldn't touch it.”

His dark eyes flicked up over the rim of his silver glasses, his expression entirely unbothered.

“It was just a drink,” he murmured, his gravelly voice infuriatingly calm.

“Just a—” You threw your hands in the air, completely exasperated. “That was my emotional support caffeine! I needed that to survive my final project!”

Seong-je set his phone down on his chest with the slow, deliberate calm of a man who found your entire meltdown immensely entertaining.

“Then guess I’m your new emotional support,” he said smoothly, his tone maddeningly casual.

You froze mid-rant, your lips parting in utter disbelief. Without waiting for a reply, he raised a calloused hand and lazily patted the empty cushion right beside his hip.

“Come here before you start losing your mind over sugar,” he added.

“I am not going to—”

“You are.”

You stomped toward the sofa with your arms tightly crossed, still glaring daggers at him. But before you could even sit on the edge, his heavy arm slid around your waist and pulled you down onto his lap in one fluid, effortless motion.

Your breath caught, the heat radiating off his broad chest instantly seeping through your shirt. Seong-je locked his grip around you, leaning in close enough for his gravelly voice to graze your skin.

“You’re way too noisy when you’re mad,” he murmured, the corner of his mouth tugging into a cocky, lingering smirk. “Kinda like it, though.”
