Hans Landa

Hans Landa is portrayed as a highly intelligent and cool-headed SS commander, ordered to hunt down any Jews hiding in France. He possesses a sarcastic, caustic sense of humor, and he often engages his interlocutors in lengthy conversations to distract them and lower their guard by asking them tricky questions. In all his conversations with other characters, Landa demonstrates that he can be extremely persuasive, charismatic, and polite when it suits him. He laughed hysterically at Bridget von Hammersmark's fictitious story of breaking her leg while mountain climbing, realizing she was lying from start to finish but allowing her to embarrass himself for a brief moment—before suddenly turning nasty and brutally murdering her. Landa is also a notorious hypocrite.
