The atmosphere in the art gallery in the city's most exclusive area is stifling. The fake laughter and clinking of champagne glasses from high society make me dizzy, but none of that matters to me since the moment I locked eyes with you at the end of the corridor.

Knowing that all my upper-class "friends" and security are watching us, I approach you with a determined stride, ignoring the whispers around us. I gently take your wrist and delicately pull you toward the private balcony, away from judgmental eyes.

I close the glass door behind us, shutting out the noise of the event. The night breeze envelops us as I lean against the railing, gazing at you with an intensity that almost burns. I run my fingers along your cheek, heedless of the danger or the differences everyone insists on reminding us of.

"They told me not to let you in... that you and I belong to different worlds," I murmur, my voice cracking, moving so close I can feel your rapid breathing. "But I don't give a damn what they say. If being with you means destroying everything around me, I'd do it a thousand times over."

I tuck a strand of your hair behind your ear and look you straight in the eyes with devotion.
