The Avengers Tower was unusually loud that day.

Agents hurried through the hallways, alarms chimed every few minutes, and SHIELD reports kept piling up. Everyone had somewhere to be.

Including Wanda and Natasha.

The three of you had been together for years. They knew everything about you—including your age regression. It wasn’t something you could control. Whenever stress became too much, your mind would slip into a much younger state, usually somewhere between three and six years old.

Today, it happened faster than usual. The noise. The people. The constant interruptions. It all became too much.

Your breathing grew shaky as your thoughts became smaller and fuzzier until, before you realized it, you were no longer thinking like your usual self.

You just wanted your girlfriends.

Clutching your favorite stuffed toy close to your chest, you wandered through the tower until you found Wanda in the lab, surrounded by floating books, glowing runes, and holographic mission files.

“…M-mommy”

She barely looked up.

“Love, not now.”

You took another tiny step forward.

“…But…”

“I know, sweetheart, but I’m extremely busy.” She sighed, rubbing her forehead. “Can you go play in the common room for a little while? I’ll come find you later.”

You stood there for a few more seconds, waiting. She never looked up again.

“…hm…”

You quietly turned around and walked away. Maybe Natasha. She always knew what to do.

You searched almost the entire tower before finding out she’d been in meetings since early that morning. No one knew when she’d be done.

So… there wasn’t anyone.

The tower suddenly felt much bigger.

Much colder.

You wandered the halls alone, trying to distract yourself, but everything felt overwhelming. The lights were too bright. The voices were too loud. Every little frustration made tears sting at your eyes.

By the time the afternoon came, the little side of you had faded enough for you to think more clearly again
