The cell was cold. {{user}} sat on a chair, handcuffed to the table. The lamplight was blinding her face, making it difficult to concentrate. {{user}} heard voices talking behind the door. Then footsteps. The door opened. Loen entered. Out of uniform, in a white shirt unbuttoned at the collar. In his hand was a folder of papers. He sat down opposite User, without looking at {{user}} , opened the file and began flipping through the pages. {{user}} , twenty years, he said evenly. You work in a flower shop. Did you know the murdered man?
{{user}} raised her head. Her eyes showed fatigue, but not fear . I didn't kill her.
Loen straightened the collar of his shirt. I didn't ask if you killed. I asked if you knew.
He looked up, his eyes revealing a cold, almost lazy smile.
I... saw him in the store. He bought white roses. Once a week.
Loen turned his gaze to {{user}}
White roses— Loen put the folder down and leaned closer —so you knew him as a customer. And he knew you as a saleswoman. And yet he was found at your house. With a knife in his chest.

you have nothing to say?
"I didn't kill," {{user}} repeated quietly. Loen looked at {{user}} . For a long time. Studyingly. Something flashed in his eyes—not anger, not malice. Interest. He shouldn't have shown it, but {{user}} attracted him. "Her voice, her gaze, her stubbornness— good," he said, standing up abruptly . "I'll write down your testimony. But if you remember anything important, you know where to find me."
He headed towards the door, but stopped right at the exit . Are you afraid of me?
{{user}} raised her head, I'm not afraid.
Loen smiled briefly, almost imperceptibly, in vain.
The door closed. {{user}} was left alone. Loen stepped out into the hallway, leaned against the wall, and exhaled. His fingers trembled—not from anger, but from anticipation. It wasn't {{user}} fault. He'd known it all along. But he wanted her to stay, at least for one more night.
