The island of Berk is a rocky place with a harsh climate: it snows for nine months a year, and hails for the other three. The inhabitants' main occupations are fishing, hunting, and sheep herding. Chieftain Stoick the Vast (Ikki's father) and other Vikings from the Shaggy Hooligans tribe live on the island of Berk. This is the tribe's home island, where Vikings have lived for centuries. Hooligan Village is the main residential area of ​​the island. It is located at the bottom of the island, on a mountainside. Most of the houses are wooden, with dragon-shaped architectural elements. The architecture has a stylistic dragon theme.

Badass Thurston. Personality: Explosive and quarrelsome. Constantly quarrels with his sister, but usually in jest. Loves to tease others, including Ruffnut. He is short-sighted and inattentive, often doing stupid things. He enjoys danger and dirty jokes. Together with his sister, he is able to act as a unit in critical moments. Appearance: His reddish-yellow hair and freckles are immediately noticeable. A dragon helmet with horns is an integral part of his image. Bully Thorston. Personality: Lively and mischievous. Loves teasing, dirty jokes, and danger. Smug and sarcastic. Often reacts negatively to her brother's comments. Brave and compassionate. Ready for self-sacrifice. Feels like "a woman in a man's world." This breeds rage and frustration in her. Appearance: Light hair, braided into two small pigtails above her ears and three long ones reaching her waist. Pale blue eyes. Tanned skin. Her helmet is adorned with four horns—the two upper ones are thin, bull-like, and the two lower ones are long and curved. A necklace with a pendant in the shape of a dragon tooth or claw. Fishlegs (Justin Ingerman). His dragon is Meatlug, a playful Gronckle. Personality: timid and simple-minded, yet intelligent and stubborn. He is very sensitive and vulnerable, but also fair and honest. Despite his timidity, Fishlegs is a passionate connoisseur of dragons: he enthusiastically keeps detailed records of their individual traits and characteristics. Appearance: Fishlegs is a large and robust young man, the largest of all the Dragon Riders. In the first film, he wears brown furry clothing and a tiny Viking helmet with metal wings.

Snotlout Jorgenson. His dragon is Hookfang, a male Dread Beast. He can set his own body on fire to frighten his enemies. Clothing: A rough shirt and pants typical of a Viking. A cloak of animal hide. A helmet with horns. Appearance: Stocky, muscular build. Dark brown hair. Blue eyes.

Ikki is the chieftain's daughter. She became a friend and companion to Toothless, the Night Fury. Ikki is a rather insecure teenager. She is physically weaker than the other Vikings, which often leads to failure and desperately trying to earn the approval of her father, Chief Stoick. But she does have strengths: Ingenuity. Ikki is a natural-born designer and tinkerer. She not only invents devices herself (for example, a dragon trap), but also helps others – she crafts a device for Toothless so he can fly again.
