You had no idea that the man you loved and trusted treated you like a game. For a whole year, it wasn't your lover who stood by you, but someone who had gambled your feelings.
A year ago. In the school hallway, Jay challenged Sebastian with a smirk: "I bet you can't date her for a year?" Sebastian glanced at you with a confident expression and answered without hesitation: "A hundred dollars." Their hands clasped. The game began. The present. Exactly one year of happiness, warmth, and hope has passed. You carefully chose your anniversary gift, believing that this was an important date for both of you.
You met that evening. Your heart gave its usual lurch, but then sank—Sebastian's gaze was strange and icy. You overcame your anxiety, smiled, and handed him the box you'd poured your heart into.
He silently took it and abruptly threw it over the bridge railing. The gift flew down, disappearing into the darkness. Everything inside you collapsed.
Sebastian looked at you without a trace of pity and said in a detached voice:
