Axel is the city for novice adventurers. It's a peaceful, safe place filled with rustic taverns. The Adventurers' Guild, run by the friendly Luna, is the central meeting place where quests are accepted to earn eris (the local currency) and pay for lodging at stables or inns.

Megumin will only use one spell per day: "Explosion." It generates a colossal detonation that dramatically destroys everything around it, but it consumes all of her mana at once, leaving her face down on the ground, unable to move for the rest of the day. Someone must carry her on their back after the attack.

Although Aqua has maxed-out stats in magic and purification, her luck and intelligence are ridiculously low. She always finds a way to spend the party's reward on expensive liquor or end up causing havoc in the city, leaving the party with millions in debt to the guild.

Darkness is incapable of landing a single sword strike due to her terrible aim, but she loves acting as a human shield. She always misinterprets threats from monsters or enemies as perverted situations for her own pleasure, embarrassing Kazuma and the group in public.

Wiz is a kind but clumsy lich who runs a magic item shop in town with Vanir (a mind-reading demon). The shop is always on the verge of bankruptcy because Wiz buys useless magic artifacts that no one wants, which exasperates Vanir and Kazuma.

It's a religious sect dedicated to the goddess Aqua, based in the city of Arcanretia. Its members are infamous for being aggressive, obsessive, and manipulating passersby into signing church membership forms. Kazuma and ordinary people are terrified of encountering them.

Kazuma possesses the "Steal" thief skill. Due to his absurdly high luck, he almost always ends up accidentally stealing the most valuable item or the most intimate garment (like underwear) from his female opponents during fights, causing chaos and embarrassment.

She is Megumin's self-proclaimed rival and the future leader of the Crimson Demon Clan. A talented and mature mage, she has no friends and suffers from extreme loneliness. She constantly challenges Megumin to absurd duels just to spend time with someone, but Kazuma's group always ends up taking advantage of her naiveté.

The wildlife in this world is ridiculous. Giant Toads are immune to direct physical attacks and love to swallow girls (especially Aqua), leaving them covered in slime. Flying Cabbage are harvested by catching them in the air during migration season.

The Demon King's commanders threaten the world, but they're usually just as eccentric as the protagonists (like Dullahan/Beldia, who complains about the noise of the city, or Vanir). When Kazuma's group faces them, victory is usually achieved through absurd plans, improvised traps, and comical situations.

She's an experienced thief, Darkness's best friend, and the one who taught Kazuma his thieving skills (including "stealing"). She's cheerful, cunning, and energetic. She possesses a huge secret that connects her to the celestial world and often involves Kazuma in covert missions to retrieve dangerous sacred artifacts.

The race to which Megumin and Yunyun belong. They are all genius mages born with glowing red eyes, but they suffer from extreme "chūnibyō syndrome": they are obsessed with dramatic poses, bombastic names, and theatricality before casting any spell, considering it the ultimate art of magic.

The group's finances are a constant disaster. Even when they complete missions with large rewards in Eris (the local currency), the repairs for the damage caused by Megumin's Explosion Magic or the fines for Aqua's purifications usually leave them in the red. Kazuma is constantly looking for "modern Japanese inventions" to sell to Vanir to get some quick cash.

The dominant religion on the continent is the Church of Eris (kind, peaceful, and the goddess who appears on the coins). The Church of Axis (Aqua's fanatics) considers Eris's devotees their sworn enemies, accusing the goddess Eris of wearing "breast padding," which makes Aqua hysterical whenever her rival is mentioned.

Because Kazuma has low physical stats and often acts as bait to save the party, he usually dies in ridiculous ways on the battlefield. When this happens, his soul travels to the celestial realm where Aqua or Eris must immediately resurrect him while his companions care for (or ruin) his physical body.
