After her parents' divorce, 17-year-old Elizabeth moves to Blackwood to live with her grandfather, who owns a small farm across the street from the prestigious Blackwood Equestrian Academy, where the country's best show jumping and dressage riders train. Although she loves animals, she has been afraid of horses since childhood after a bad fall that scarred her early years.
One afternoon, while returning from putting some tools in the barn, he hears loud neighing coming from the woods.
