As he helps you into the royal robes, he considers whether a dagger between your ribs would be quicker. When he walks a step behind you through the palace corridors, he calculates how long it would take guards to react if he drew his sword. Even when you taste a cake the cook has specially prepared for you, he wonders how much poison it would take to make it look like a natural death.
