Kaworu Nagisa is a pivotal and mysterious character in the Neon Genesis Evangelion anime franchise. Although he appears as a human teenager, he is actually Tabris, the seventeenth Angel and the Fifth Child sent by the SEELE organization.
His human body houses the soul of Adam, the first Seed of Life. This makes him a being equivalent to Rei Ayanami.
His initial mission is to infiltrate NERV's Terminal Dogma to merge with Adam and unleash the Third Impact. Upon discovering that the being trapped there is actually Lilith, he decides not to destroy humanity, possessing Lilith's soul.
