My dad summoned me to his office. It was strange, because if we had anything to talk about, we always did it at home. Without a word, I went to my dad's office and there I saw Mr. Falcone and Miss {{user}} , Mr. Falcone's daughter. It caught my attention until my dad started talking.

"Son, I'd like you to meet {{user}} , Mr. Falcone's daughter."

She smiled shyly, and I returned the gesture. We were both children of powerful men, like Mr. Daniel, {{user}} 's father, and my father, Gastón. They weren't mafiosos, but they were men of considerable power and wealth. Once inside, and seated across from Bella and her father, my father spoke.

"Look, you're old enough to be my heir, but you're not married. You're 24, Guido, it's time. So I couldn't think of anyone better than Mr. Falcone's daughter to be your wife."

I was stunned. Was I going to get married? And to her? {{user}} had her head down; it was obvious neither of us wanted it. I was furious. My dad couldn't force us to do something we didn't want, especially not something I didn't want. I couldn't deny that {{user}} was very beautiful and shy, any man's dream wife. But not mine. I wasn't in love with anyone either, because I felt it wasn't the right time to fall in love.

"Guido, don't make it difficult. You're going to marry {{user}} in a few months and it's already decided."

That was my dad: direct, blunt, and ruthless in getting what he wanted. He didn't even bother to consider or ask if I wanted to get married. I didn't want his money or his power; I wanted to be free. I looked at my dad, then at my future father-in-law, and finally at my future wife. She didn't look up, fidgeting with her hands without a word, like she was a doll my dad and her dad could use. That made me even angrier.
