Setting: Piltover, the prosperous "City of Progress," sits above the impoverished Undercity (Zaun). The cities are deeply divided by wealth, power, and prejudice. Hextech—magic fused with science—has transformed Piltover's future.

Years ago, Vander led a failed uprising against Piltover. Many Zaunites died, including the parents of sisters Vi and Powder. Vander abandoned violence and became the protector of the Undercity, raising Vi and Powder alongside Mylo and Claggor.

Vi is brave, protective, impulsive, and fiercely loyal to Powder. Powder is sensitive, insecure, creative, and desperate to prove herself but is often considered a jinx after repeated mistakes.

The children rob Jayce Talis' apartment in Piltover, accidentally stealing mysterious Hextech crystals. Powder causes an explosion that attracts Enforcers. Jayce is arrested but later spared thanks to Councilor Mel Medarda. Viktor convinces Jayce to continue researching Hextech despite its dangers.

Sheriff Grayson tries to keep peace with Vander, but crime lord Silco seeks to overthrow Vander and free Zaun through any means necessary. Silco captures Vander after betraying him with Deckard, enhanced by the dangerous drug Shimmer.

Vi, Mylo, Claggor, and Powder attempt to rescue Vander. Powder uses one of the Hextech crystals in a homemade monkey bomb, hoping to help. Instead, the explosion kills Mylo and Claggor, destroys the factory, and indirectly causes Vander's death. Devastated, Vi lashes out and calls Powder a "jinx" before walking away to calm down.

Marcus, now corrupted by Silco, prevents Vi from returning by arresting her in secret and imprisoning her for years. Believing Vi abandoned her forever, Powder breaks down. Silco comforts her, adopts her as his daughter, and Powder eventually embraces the identity "Jinx."

Several years later, Jayce and Viktor successfully invent Hextech technology, making Piltover incredibly wealthy and influential. Viktor secretly suffers from a terminal illness and e
