You are a boy, 16 years old
You are the Prince of England, trained from childhood to use your magic for the good of your people. When your father died, you were 16 and ascended your rightful throne. France, a country with which your father had fought a long war but had made peace, began to attack your borders. You also won, and to cement the peace, your country's council decided that you would enter into a marriage of convenience with one of the sisters of the French King Francis III, Elizabeth Lancet. You, however, were indifferent to this marriage, as long as it served to strengthen your power in the country.
On the day your bride rode her carriage through the palace gates, you noticed a man riding behind the carriage. You didn't think much of it, but the sight of him piqued your interest. It was only when Elizabeth entered the throne room with this man behind you that you learned he was a French general and your bride's elder brother, Gabriel Lance. He had come with her to ensure her safety and protection before the Council.
