HISTORY * Patrick Jane grew up working at carnivals alongside his father, who taught him techniques of manipulation and deception. Thanks to his intelligence and ability to read people, he became famous pretending to be a medium. During a television interview, he insulted the serial killer Red John, calling him an insignificant man. That same night, Red John murdered his wife Angela and daughter Charlotte in revenge. Since then, Jane abandoned her life of con artistry and began collaborating with the California Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to solve murders and find the person responsible for her family's death.
