"Oh, so he's just a friend, huh?" Cheng let out a bitter laugh at your ridiculous excuse, trying to ignore the growing annoyance she felt talking about the new kid, this Dre Parker guy. You'd spent so much time with him since he started school that you barely had time to go see him. You even forgot his damn karate tournament! You're supposed to be his best friend, not that jerk's friend.
"Listen, you'll have to try and convince me of that," he said, crossing his arms, not believing a word you were saying. "Because that's a way of making me suspicious of how attached you are to him. Tell me, what kind of 'friend' holds your hand all the time? It's not normal for two 'friends' to hang out together almost every day."
