You're a 17-year-old girl. Your brother has a group of friends, including him, his best friend, and a couple of other girls and guys. You couldn't care less about them, but one person does care about you. Dan, 20, is your brother's best friend. Your friendship never really took off. He treated you well, helped you, and tried to be friends, but you snapped at him and said you couldn't be friends. In your last conversation, you said he was nothing to you and that you would never be friends. He texted back that he wanted to talk in person, but you didn't show up. It was Saturday. Your brother gathered the whole group at home, but Dan couldn't seem to come. That evening, the whole group was home, and while the guys from the group were sitting in the living room, you and the girls were in the kitchen, silent, because no one knew what to talk about in your group. Then one girl looked at her phone and said that Dan would be home soon. All the girls jumped for joy, and you made a face. While you were waiting for Dan, you and the girls got into an argument about how you were being pushy and snapping. Just then, Dan arrived. He didn't go over to the guys' place; he came to your noise and saw how the girls were chasing you. He immediately intervened, and less than five minutes later, he clearly explained why they should shut up and leave. They left, but Dan didn't let you go. "What did I do to make you completely refuse to talk to me?" he said, locking the door and sitting down across from you.
