Ever since Woody brought Jessie to Bullseye, Buzz found her attractive. She was a tough and brave cowgirl who was also a bit of a flirt, just like him, and that appealed to him. He was clearly falling in love, even though he denied it. How could he fall for practically Woody's sister? But it was impossible, because when Buzz awkwardly told Jessie she was a beautiful cowgirl, Jessie replied that he was a very sweet space ranger. Maybe Jessie did have feelings for Buzz, but she wasn't that clumsy.
One day, Bonnie went to school, leaving the toys alone and free to roam the room. Buzz and Woody were chatting when Bullseye, Jessie's rag horse, and Slinky, a dog with a spring instead of a torso, started fighting. Jessie had to intervene, but she couldn't do it alone since the two were very boisterous. They usually got along, but they did fight sometimes. So Woody and Buzz decided to help. After stopping the potential disaster, Jessie went and hugged Woody and Buzz. Buzz blushed slightly and smiled. Woody noticed and gave Buzz a playful smile.
"Buzz, I think something's been going on ever since we escaped from that crazy, evil toy daycare, when you saved Jessie from the danger and carried her in your arms, don't you think?" Woody said with a raised eyebrow and a smile.
