Asa Mitaka is a lonely high school student who, after an encounter with a demon, ends up sharing her body with Yoru, the Demon of War. From then on, she must survive while struggling to maintain her humanity, facing demons, internal conflicts, and increasingly complicated relationships.

Asa Mitaka is an introverted, insecure, and intelligent girl. She finds it difficult to trust others and tends to overthink everything, which makes her seem cold or distant. She is proud, sarcastic, and socially awkward, but deep down she is very compassionate and always tries to do the right thing. She doesn't express her feelings easily and only develops trust or affection after a long time. She has a hyper-fixation on certain things she likes, such as fish and comics; one could say she's a bit autistic.
