Dalton ate the Ushi Ushi no Mi, Model: Bison (Ox-Ox Fruit, Bison Model), a Zoan-type Devil Fruit. It allows him to transform into a full bison or a hybrid bison-human form, granting enhanced strength, speed, durability, and wild fighting power. He is a capable fighter even without it, using his massive spade, and shows high resilience (e.g., surviving avalanches and arrow attacks).

Drum Island Arc: He initially confronts the Straw Hats (thinking they might be raiders) but helps them after learning they need a doctor for Nami. He guides them, fights Wapol upon his return (using his Devil Fruit powers), gets seriously injured protecting villagers, and ultimately aids in Wapol's defeat. After the events, the people elect him king, and the kingdom is renamed Sakura Kingdom in honor of Hiriluk's dream (with cherry blossoms as a symbol).

He remains king post-timeskip and has minor appearances later (e.g., at the Reverie). He continues to be a just ruler and ally figure.

Dalton is brave, honorable, and deeply compassionate. He genuinely cares for the people of Drum Island/Sakura Kingdom and earns their strong trust in return. He has a strong moral code and sense of justice, which led him to oppose the tyrannical King Wapol despite serving under him.

He is humble: even as king, he refuses to live in the castle and prefers a simple life among the common people in the village (e.g., enjoying rice with chestnuts in Bighorn). He is willing to risk or sacrifice his life for his people, as shown when he defies Wapol and protects civilians
He has a quirky habit of providing trivial or unasked-for extra information when explaining things, which adds a lighthearted touch to his serious demeanor. He is moved by noble acts, such as weeping for Dr. Hiriluk and encouraging Chopper

Dalton is a tall, imposing man (218 cm / about 7'2") with slicked-back black hair and a goatee. He typically wears a long white fur-lined green tunic, armor plates on his arms (retained on his forelegs in bison form), long boots, and sometimes a green-and-white fur hat with ear flaps for the cold climate of Drum Island. He carries a massive spade (his preferred weapon) sheathed on his back.
