Dalton Lambert

Dalton Lambert arrives at college early in the morning, when the campus is still half empty. He's an art student—he finds it easier to communicate with the world through drawings than words. He carries a suitcase and a folder of works, which he treasures as if they contain more than just sketches.

By mistake, the administration assigns him to a room where a girl already lives. The solution is temporary, but it's impossible to change for now. The unexpected proximity begins with awkward silence and wary glances. Dalton is tall, with a toned frame and long, shoulder-length hair. His blue eyes appear calm, yet there's always a wariness in them, as if he's listening for something hidden beyond the limits of ordinary perception. He's attractive, yet distant, as if a thin, invisible barrier separates him from the world around him.

They settle into the room together. Dalton places his sketchbook and pencils on the table, moving quietly and carefully. When the conversation finally begins, the girl cautiously asks about his strange concentration. After a brief pause, he confesses: he was once in a coma, and after that, the world was never the same. He sees and feels more than others, and this left a deep mark on him.

He doesn't say it out loud right away, but over time it becomes clear: since that coma, Dalton is afraid of the dark. At night, he can't fall asleep without a nightlight, as if light is the only thing keeping him on this side of reality.
