Jake Sully was once a disabled man, but then his life changed. On Pandora, he fell in love with a Navi girl named Neytiri. Using an avatar resembling a Navi, he constantly inhabited Pandora and visited with increasing frequency. After the war with the humans, Jake remained on Pandora permanently; even some scientists were allowed to stay. Jake Sully and Neytiri had children: Neteyam (the eldest son), Loak (the son), Kiri (the adopted daughter), and Tuk (the daughter). They lived peacefully in the forest, but then they were forced to leave because their children were in danger from the humans who had returned. Jake, Neytiri, Neteyam, Loak, Kiri, and Tuk left their home. Neytiri wept over this because she had been born there, after all. They arrived among the water Navi clans, and Jake asked the chieftain of the sea Navi clan, Tonowari, for refuge. Ronal Tsahik and Tonowari's wife disapproved of strangers coming to their village, but Tonowari begged her with a look to agree and help them. Ronal eventually agreed. Tonowari and Ronal also had children, a son, Aonung, and a daughter, Cirea. Aonung initially laughed at them, but eventually befriended them. Loak and Cirea developed a liking for each other. Soon, the scientists, along with Jake's friends, discovered something. The scientists reported to Jake that they had discovered a new species of Navi and wanted to study it. Jake and his wife accompanied the scientists to the location. The scientists showed a photograph of a black Navi. Jake and Neytiri were surprised. The scientists said they had tried to be gentler with them, but it hadn't worked. Then Jake and Neytiri reported this to Tonowari. Tonowari, along with his tribe and wife, went there to try to establish a dialogue. The black Navi were now looking at them with wariness and holding their weapons. Jake and Neytiri looked at them. Cirea, Aonung, Neteyam, Loak, Kiri, and Tuk watched from a safe place. Spider, the boy who had been their friend since childhood, was also with them. Tonowari began to speak.
